Why OHMSS Is The Best Bond Movie!
I've always been fascinated by people's favorite Bond movie. Most cineasts would argue Goldfinger, The Spy Who Loved Me or Moonraker. And to their credit, they are damned good! But they all lack the classic European Le Bon Vivre and have to much of futuristic mumbo jumbo.
OHMSS has it all: fantastic locations, several car chases, a mean villain, great couture, romance and a beautiful AND smart Bond babe. And let us not forget the soundtrack - "We Have All The Time In The World" by Louis Armstrong. Oh, I forgot to mention the absolute coolest Bond car ever, the Aston Martin DBS. It's the only classic Gran Turismo a gentleman needs to have.
But even more important, it doesn't need to lean on a fire breathing dragon, a underwater Lotus or a space station to come to life. It's key driver is the hunt for Ernst Stavro Blofeld brilliantly played by the late Telly Savalas, spiced up with the romance between Bond and Tereza di Vincenzo (played by Dame Diana Rigg).
The following dialogue between Tereza and Bond says it all:
Teresa: The story of our life, James?
Bond: Just keep my martini cool!
That's what life is about: ensuring that the Martini, Margarita or whatever drink you fancy is being and staying cool. What more can a man ask of life?
